I'll set the scene for you: It's Wednesday and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. You just got invited to a potluck and you have no idea what to make or bring. Let the panic being...or...use this three-ingredient recipe to be the star of the party.
I was chatting with a co-worker yesterday about what we were making and taking to our respective Thanksgiving events. I'm lucky enough that my mom and dad are still doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to the meal, so I get to sit back and have fun with a side or two. I had already decided on one veggie dish but felt I needed to pull my weight a little and bring an appetizer. When my co-worker mentioned that he always makes this dip for his family, I knew it would be the perfect addition to my Thanksgiving.
I'm pretty sure we have all made some sort of cheesy sausage dip. If you haven't made it, you most likely have eaten some and hopefully you thought it was super yummy. This version is simple & delicious.
Start with a large skillet and heat over medium high. Add the sausage of your choice and brown. Here is where this recipe gets it's Well Seasoned Table twist. I love food with a little kick, but the grocery store was out of spicy sausage (the horror). No problem! This is the perfect chance to use WST Mixed Hot Pepper Blend. As the sausage is browning, add the WST Mixed Hot Pepper Blend to taste (I used 1.5 teaspoons). I may never buy hot sausage again...who needs it!?
Once the sausage is cooked through, add diced tomatoes (again, use what you like, but I love the roasted Rotel) and cream cheese. Stir over medium heat until the cheese is melted and everything is mixed well.
Serve with chips, veggies, pita, a spoon.... that's it! See, I told you it would be super easy. The best part is this dish will reheat very well. You could even make it in a crock pot and let it hang out all day while you relax and watch football...er...spend time with family.
